Breathtaking views, challenging terrain, and captivating wilderness, set the scene for this 12 hour race of challenge and adventure. Join us in honoring and
commemorating a dear friend, fellow adventure racer, and fellow search and rescue instructor, who died while training a few years ago.
Krista spent many years training and instructing at the Civil Air Patrol's Search and Rescue School, based at Hawk Mountain, PA. Proceeds from the race will go to benefit that volunteer school.
We've got a great course lined up for you that will include orienteering, bushwacking, trekking, road and mountain biking, paddling, a ropes section, and a team oriented obstacle course. This race has it all, and it's an event you won't want to miss!
This is a point to point race which will include both mandatory and optional checkpoints. It's a great race for those seasoned athletes, and those ready to move up to the next level of adventure racing.
There will be some UTM Plotting in this race. We will offer assistance during Friday night check in for those who need it. All teams will have to demonstrate their plotting skills on Friday evening. You DO NOT want to miss this race just because you are not familiar with UTM plotting. Let us help you take the next step in learning this skill. You can tutorials here:
There will be an optional rappel section in this race. You do not need any skill or experience in rappelling to compete in this event. You only need to be a good listener for our rope staff. You are required to bring your own harness and gloves, we will supply the rest.

All bikes must be labeled with team number and on the parade field for bike transport no later than 6:45am on Saturday
The Civil Air Patrol base is located near Interstate 78, half way between Harrisburg and Allentown. From Interstate 78 get off at Exit #34 (old Exit #11) Lenhartsville-PA Route 143. Turn north (left) on PA Route 143 and proceed approximately 5 miles to an intersection that has a Sonoco gas station. Turn left onto Hawk Mountain Road. In about 100 yards the road forks, stay to the left. Stay on this road for approximately 10 minutes (3 miles). Turn left onto Pine Swamp Road. School is 1 mile down on the left hand side road.

Race Registration fee:
$130 per person for those that register by June 26th
$150 per person after that date as spaces permit

Racing teams can get involved in helping defray their race costs and
raise money for The Civil Air Patrol all at the same time!
For each $100 the racer raises, $15 will be subtracted from their registration fee!

Pennsylvania Wing Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue Program.

Various gear prizes will be awarded at the race, with the top prizes going to the coed/3 division winners. The 1st place winner in the coed/3 division will receive $400 for their entry fee to USARA Nationals.
