Honoring the memory of Donna Mummert.
Donna passed away in January 2014. She was a young spririted woman, and a great racer who always had a spark of adventure in her eyes. She will be missed by many.
Come out to The Meltdown and get a leg up on the 2017 racing season! What better way to thaw yourself of the winter freeze and melt off those extra holiday pounds. Fair Hill NRMA (Natural Resource Management Area,) was formerly owned by William duPont Jr. in one of the largest private landholdings on the east coast. Today outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy over 5,000 acres of protected land boasting more than 75 miles of multi use trails for hiking, biking, and equestrians. Runners only: Tired of doing the "same old - same old"? Then come on out to our 2 hour adventure run! You'll be given a map with checkpoints marked on the map, and up to 2 hours to collect as many of these checkpoints as you can. Collect as many as you like and run for as long as you like, but no longer than 2 hours will be permitted. All you need is an adventurous spirit, some very basic map reading skills (do you know your north from your south and your left from your right?) and of course - your sneakers!
If we happen to have snow cover, you can travel by any means you choose. You can snowshoe, ski, even posthole your way from point to point.
Runner/Bikers: So, we hear you can also mountain bike! Well, then you should do the 6 Hour Foot/Bike Adventure Race. In this event you will have up to 6 hours to collect as many point as you can. Solo racers and teams of 2-3 welcome! If we are lucky enough to have snow cover, you also can travel by any means you choose. You can snowshoe, ski, bike or even posthole your way from point to point. If there is snow, your method of travel (or madness!) will be your option! Weather conditions will determine if the event will be bike and foot, or foot only. In circumstances of substantial rain, the course will be modified in order to preserve the integrity of the trails. The final decision will be made just before the race. We are planning on a bike and foot course. Either way, you won't be disappointed!
Both races are rain or shine. We will only cancel in the event of a severe snowstorm actively occurring the morning of the event, making road travel impossible.

The Meltdown Adventure Race began in 2014 as a way to help fundraise for our adventure racing team. Proceeds from the race will help to offset the team's 2017 race season, and will also help our organization to offset adventure racing production costs. This will allow our non-profit to better serve our participants and the charitable organizations which we support. Our goals this year include local and regional and national level races.
If you or people you know would like to help contribute it would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.
You can download the fundraising form below:
Various prizes will be awarded at the race, with the top prize going to those teams in the 3 person co-ed gender division.
